Urn Series: Funeral for a Mouse

The repeated sight of road kill strewn about the side of the road started to wear on me. I wanted to take what felt like something disregarded, and to elevate it. I wanted to give these dead animals a certain consideration they deserve. This piece contains a ritualistic element. When incense is lit and placed in the bottom cavity it smoke fills the vessel. As the smoke rises it passes through a grate underneath the mouse, slowly enveloping him.

Urn Series: Body Vessel

Cremation urns interest me as vessels designed to contain and show respect for the ashes from one's body. With this urn I depict the body itself serving as the vessel for one’s soul.
